Peter and I both took Techniques and Tactics of International Terrorists, and due to the nature of the material I'm not going to post any pictures. John H. gave a very good presentation with a lot of video and tactical analysis. To think that I spent so many years as a kid afraid of monsters, when I should have been scared of religious fanatics all along...
For the second block, we ran straight for John M.'s Turning Martial Arts into Viable Police Defensive Tactics Skills. Admittedly, when I first read the title, I thought, "Great. Another martial arts vs. 'practical' defensive tactics class." Just about the first thing John did was disavow that position and proceeded to give an excellent class. I learned something useful, and not having learned too many useful things in DT classes for awhile, I was very pleased. John really gets into his class...
Raven puts Peter in handcuffs.
John sets Raven up...
...and flips him over for
handcuffing. The handcuffing focus was important for me.
This isn't something we usually address in martial arts, and it's good to
learn.
Raven kneels on my
head and applies handcuffs.
He didn't kneel on Peter's head.
Why do I always get special treatment?
Why do I have a bad feeling about where this is going?
Oh. That's why.
Gravity is a harsh mistress.
A little leverage doesn't hurt...until you land...
I don't think that guy is going to resist anymore, John...
The students get to discover gravity too.
