Well, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is beating up old ladies and dragging them out of their homes in New Orleans. Here's the video to prove it: http://www.ktvu.com/video/4946889/detail.html

Gotta love America...  I think we used to have something called a Constitution.  I guess these guys forgot their oath to uphold it.

Today I went to Home Depot and got the things I needed to patch my roof and clean up in the house to get ready to move my family back in.  What I really need is a 40 foot extention ladder...

Ann and Mike hosted us at their house for a nice dinner and some company.  I'm starting to get used to Texas.

David came home early and cooked us all breakfast this morning.  I'm starting to feel mostly normal here.  Today I need to get a few more things done as far as paperwork and such go, and then I'm going to take the family to the park for a little walk and some recreation.  It's a beautiful day and getting outdoors will do us all some good.

I'm going back to Harahan on Tuesday to try to patch my roof and hook up with a few people.  I need to see if I can get a big ladder to get me on my roof.  The more I think about it, the better that idea seems to me.  Monday we need to go back to the bank and do a few other things.  We want to try to get some of the federal assistance that seems so plentiful, and maybe the lines will be shorter.

I took Virginia to eat at Wendy's, because that's what she wanted for lunch.  Problem is that I couldn't find the Wendy's...  We wound up at the food court in the mall, doing a little people watching.  The people of Sugar Land are very diverse.  We saw nearly every ethnic group and economic class imaginable.  I did notice that nearly everyone - men, women, and children alike - wear thong sandals here.  Flip-flops.  It's universal.  I felt over-dressed in my Chacos.  From the mall we went to the local park.  The City Park of Sugar Land isn't much of a park, but it's clean and quaint.
