05 SEP - 9:15 AM

I came into the office this morning.  We have all services except internet - which kills half my comms.  I took some pictures on the way in.  Nothing too exciting.  Traffic lights are out in many places.  Power is still spotty all over.

I went out to Belle Chasse in Plaquemine's Parish.  Power was out here and there and there were some crews working on the lights.

Belle Chasse looks pretty good otherwise.  We went to Zydeco's for lunch and things were pretty normal.  There were some long lines at gas stations, but everyone cooperated and things stayed friendly.

Spaghetti dinner tonight!  We're still feeding a mess of people.  Everyone is working together to make sure everyone is taken care of.

Just about time to ring the dinner bell.

Bread is hard to come by, so I ended up making my famous garlic bread on some hotdog buns we managed to scrounge.
Ended up claiming they were bread sticks.  :D

06 SEP - Saturday

I am on call today, but with no expectation of calls.  Ed, Virginia, and I ran a few errands.  We went down to the local gun store, 10-8 Tactical, which was shuttered and locked.  The sign said knock, so we did and were let in.  We were able to pick up some receivers we had ordered and paid for.  They were only open for emergency needs, and were out of just about everything.  They were working on a big restocking order.  I recommend this shop to all locals.

We went over to Winn Dixie next to see what was on the shelves and to pick up some extra supplies.  The store was pretty well stocked, but crowded and busy.  The two things that were short were bread and toilet paper.  Both could be had, but you couldn't be picky.

Electricity is still out in some areas, and a lot of people don't seem to understand that when a traffic light is not working that you should treat the intersection as a 4-way stop.  I saw a number of minor accidents caused by this ignorance.

I worked around the house on some general organization and cleanup.  A house gets dirty fast with so many folks about.  Power came on for everyone today, and folks started moving out.  We set up a lovely pot-roast dinner and everyone came back to eat.

06 SEP - Sunday

We have the house to ourselves today, so we had our usual 'bacon Sunday' breakfast and worked on some cleanup.  I had to go out to put a client back online and now I'm about to put Madeline down for her 1:00 nap.  After that I'll finish cleaning up around here, get my kitchen back in order, and help Andrea with the rest of the laundry.  Tonight I'll finish some organization and keep watching Hurricane Ike.
